Simran Kaur Mundi from Mumbai crowned Miss India Universe 2008
Simran Kaur Mundi was crowned Femina Miss India Universe 2008 at a glittering contest held in Mumbai on Saturday. Parvathy Omankuttan was named Miss India World 2008 while Harshita Saxena was chosen Miss India Earth 2008.
After being crowned as Miss India Universe 2008 Simran Kaur Mundi said, "I was not even supposed to participate this year," The biotech graduate was working with a cinema chain in Mumbai when an unexpected audition changed her life. "I am feeling great right now," she added.
Regarding her Miss Universe 2008 plans she said:
"My philosophy is to take one day at a time. We will try our best to win the international pageants assigned to us."
Simran Kaur Mundi Biography (Bio and Career Profile)
Simran Kaur Mundi was crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India Universe 2008 in Mumbai on 5th April 2008. She is a 22-year-old graduate from Mumbai who works with a cinema chain there. Her hobbies include: Listening to music, reading, writing poems, sketching and playing basketball.
She was crowned by the reigning Miss India Universe 2007, Puja Gupta in the glittering function held at the Andheri Sports Complex here on Saturday night of 5th April, 2008.
During the Q&A round of the contest, when asked about the rate of divorce in India and whether the reason for the rise was due to western cultural influences, she gave the following answer :
"The mindset is changing but divorces cannot be attributed to western influences. In fact we need to come up with a system to tackle this dilemma."
